Years 1 and 2 Our theme this term is ‘The Little Red Dragon.” A lot of the work will be based on the books - ‘Alun yr Arth a’r Ddraig Fach Goch,’ by Morgan Tomos. We might have time to read some more books in the series as well. This is an outline of the terms work, but we will also be following some of the children’s ideas. Health And Well Being- simple team games, ball skills, practising for Sports Day. Learning the correct name for different body parts. Keeping safe. Mathematics – addition, subtraction, (multiplication, division, Year 2). Movement - quarter turn, clockwise and anti-clockwise, half turns, whole turns. Patterns, estimate and check, fractions, data and sorting. Language - writing a story, book review, express opinions, poetry Science and Technology– which materials would be best to use to keep the dragon dry, experiment with waterproof and non- waterproof materials and use their findings to build a simple ‘home’ for the dragon. Gardening and planting vegetables. Investigating paper aeroplanes. Expressive Arts - folk dancing - Cylch y Cymru, simple composing, looking at the work of the artist Ruth Jên. Humanities - Welsh legends and history. The story of the first aeroplanes.
